Coach K back on top of the game

It was, believe it or not, just a shade shy of one year ago on Nov. 13, 2009 when Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski was subjected to the near-torture of having to watch his top recruit, Harrison Barnes, deliver the news via Skype to Duke's archrival down the road in Chapel Hill.
"I want to let you know I’ll be joining you guys next year," Barnes informed a downright giddy UNC coach Roy Williams through the social networking video platform.Just another dagger delivered to Coach K, the latest sending the Duke program further down into the abyss that had become known as Blue Devil mediocrity.
Now, Coach K is literally on top of the basketball world.
It began with the Olympic gold medal in the summer of 2008 and also included another gold this past summer in Turkey at the World Championships.
Sandwiched in between was an improbable national title this past April. On the horizon, quite possibly this April, is taking the mantle from his former college coach, Bob Knight, as the all-time winningest men’s Division I coach.
Yes, there is a reason everyone is smiling in Krzyzewski-ville these days.
But there were plenty who pegged the 63-year-old Coach K on the decline, certainly not on the rise.
Myself included.
"People didn’t think he could do it in his 60s," said Duke assistant Chris Collins, who also played for Krzyzewski. "He’s competitive, and I’m sure he used that as motivation."
"I’m aware of it," Krzyzewski said of the talk he had passed his prime. "But it wasn’t really extra motivation. I thought we were one game away from going far a couple of years ago."
But the Blue Devils weren’t quite living up to the lofty expectations set in Durham since the mid '80s -- they went to five consecutive Final Fours from 1988-92 and won back-to-back national championships in 1991 and '92.
Duke wasn’t just an elite program. It was the elite program.

Microsoft intends to release Microsoft Office 2010 Technical Preview to invited guests who register to sign up for Office 2010 CTP Program only by July 2009. Office 2010 was previously known by codename Office 14 (taken cue from its version), and wrongly assume to be Office 2009. The setup installer of both 32bit (x86) and 64bit (x64) Office 2010 Technical Preview 1 (TP 1) has been leaked to BT network. The leaked Office 2010 Technical Preview 1 has the version of 14.0.4006.1010, a pretrial version provided to premium Microsoft partners.

It's unclear whether it is the leaked Office 2010 TP1 build will be the version that is going to be released officially by Microsoft in July. And it?s still unclear yet whether Microsoft will make available publicly for Office 2010 Beta downloads, which is said to be will be having 2 betas Beta 1 in July 2009 and another Beta 2 in November 2009. The betas is said to be different from Technical Preview, where TP is just meant as an engineering milestone for the development of Office 2010 and related products that leading to RTM that will reach in July 2009, according to Office 2010 IT Blog. Office 2010 is expected to RTM and released as final product in March 2010, with the exception of Exchange Server 2010, where Exchange Server 2010 beta already available from official download links.

The setup installer of the leaked download will install Microsoft Office Plus 2010 edition, with Access 2010, Excel 2010, InfoPath 2010, OneNote 2010, Outlook 2010, PowerPoint 2010, Publisher 2010, and Word 2010. Project Professional 2010, SharePoint Designer 2010 and Visio Professional 2010 are also included in the leaked RAR archive download. Office 2010 supports Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.

Important note is that Office 2010 TP 1 is still in early stage of development, and may contain bugs, although most individual programs such as Word 2010 and Excel 2010 are usable in everyday life. It?s also interesting to know that Office 2007, the predecessor of Office 2010, is version 12. Office 2010 will be version 14, skipping version 13, the number that Microsoft assumes may be not so lucky.

Mathews and Malinga script stunning victory

Angelo Mathews and Lasith Malinga produced one of the great one-day international fightbacks to clinch an improbable victory for Sri Lanka, extending Australia's losing streak to six international games since July. The visitors seemed destined for a humiliating loss when they crashed to 8 for 107 chasing 240, but Mathews and Malinga kept fighting, spurred on by noisy support from a crowd dominated by Sri Lankan fans.
They compiled the highest ninth-wicket partnership in ODI history, beating a 27-year-old record set by Kapil Dev and Syed Kirmani at the 1983 World Cup, and the 132-run stand left Australia's confidence in tatters. Malinga belted his way to his first one-day half-century and Mathews played the guiding hand with a wonderful unbeaten 77 as the pair raced towards their target with plenty of time to spare.
They had a scare when Malinga was run out with the scores level, trying for the winning single to cover, but Muttiah Muralitharan finished the job with a flick off his pads for four to fine leg off Shane Watson. It will be Muralitharan's final international act at the MCG, where he was called for throwing 15 years ago, but this time there was nothing but roaring applause.
Apart from the debutant left-arm spinner Xavier Doherty, who had a dream start to his international career with 4 for 46, none of Australia's bowlers looked seriously threatening against Malinga and Mathews. The stand-in captain Michael Clarke had a furrowed brow for most of the final hour, searching for a way to break the stand, but curiously did not employ the aggressive Steven Smith after the 25th over.
Malinga was the aggressor and finished with 56 from 48 balls, but Mathews was the architect of the comeback. His 84-ball innings included eight fours and one six, and was defined by a regular pinpointing of gaps in the field. Mathews struck the ball cleanly and almost never looked in danger of losing his wicket.
